If you already smoke or are you planning to smoke don't do it! It will do you more harm than good. It's a horrible vice and now it's time to let it go.
STOP EATING GARBAGE
Give up on fast food. You may think that you are invincible now but your body will begin to take its toll eventually. And it's better to prevent than to regret.
Maintain and repair all those relations that need repair. It's not good to be angry at people that you once loved. It's healthier to live without anger, resentment and hate.
Always use sunblock. It only takes a minute to apply and will prevent skin cancer and less serious conditions like wrinkles, spots, discoloration and thin skin. The sun is not a joke.
Try not to gain weight now because it would be harder to reduce when you are older. Also, it will be easier to follow an exercise routine if you start right now.
I know it sounds useless now, but now that you are in your thirties you need less money to live, and you will thank yourself when you reach the fifties.
I don't have a magic recipe to happiness, but you can start at being content with what you have right now. If you try this, you will attract good things.
DON’T DELAY PURSUING YOUR GOALS
It's harder to change the things you don't like when you are older. Write a goals list and go after them, now is the time to do it, no matter how hard of difficult your goals are.
Get some repairing sleep. Close your blinds, make your bedroom screen-free and try to go to sleep and waking up at the same time. This will improve your daily routine.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR MOUTH
Go to the dentist, fix your cavities as soon as you can. You will regret not doing this in a few years, when the problems grow bigger and more expensive.
COLLECT MEMORIES INSTEAD OF THINGS
You are the sum of your experiences, not your possessions. Experiences can't be burned in a fire or get stolen, so start saving them. Do whatever you want now, travel, study, meet new people, that's everything you got.
Give without expecting nothing in return. You will learn about the goodness that service brings to your life. Do it with effort, don't do what is more easy or comfortable.
BE ADVENTUROUS EVERY DAY
You don't need to travel far away to be adventurous. You can do it without leaving your home. Do things that scare you, one per day. Add some friend, create experiences.
Read at least 10 books a year. Your brain is always exercising and you need to feed it with those things that matter. Turn off the TV and read a good old book.
BE A TOURIST
Travel every time you have the chance to do it, it doesn't need to be far away, you can go to a nearby town. And if you don't have the chance to do it, you can be a tourist at your own city.
It only takes a few minutes a day and the benefits of meditation are endless. You will see changes in your life and the way you see the world very quickly.
STOP COMPARING WITH OTHERS
You need to be yourself now, without the pressure of trying to do like someone else, because when you get to the fifties no one will care about your ways of impressing others.
Keep a journal. You may not think about that now but eventually you will forget about things that happens to you around this age. Computers will help you, save your memories, photos, letters and experiences in memory sticks.
BE A HOMEOWNER
I know, it takes time, money and effort, and it's easier to live some other way. But if you start paying a house by now, it will be mostly paid by the time you reach the fifties.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR FRIENDS
Take care of those who make you feel good about yourself, who challenge you by example. Laugh with them, be silly, help them with their things and make time to talk to them at least once a week.
Whenever is possible, have the experience of living abroad, or in a metropolitan city in your own country at least for a few months. This will give you memories that you will love.
Now is the time to do it. Use an app, live somewhere else or take classes, it doesn't matter how you do it, but study that language you always wanted to speak.
This is hard, but it will pay out, I can assure you. Getting rid of those negative and harmful thoughts will improve your live in a thousand percent. Think positive about you and the others.
The only way of learning how to do things right is to take chances. You probably get it wrong at the beginning, but you will improve. The greatest successes come when you dare to break the mold.
DON’T BE RECKLESS
All this doesn't mean that you need to be reckless, it means not living in fear and seizing opportunities are being able to determine if they are good for you or if you need to let them go.
PICTURE YOURSELF IN THIRTY YEARS
Decide now who you want to be in the future. Be specific, but open to surprises. And work towards those goals, you'll see how everything works out, just like magic.
DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME
Time goes away and never comes back. You should treat it as a treasure because nothing is more ethereal in this world. Never waste your time, even if you are doing nothing, do it consciously.
CONSIDER EACH DAY A GIFT
I know it's hard to think about this but there's a lot of things and people in your life right now that won't be there in twenty years. Each day with them is a gift, seize each one.
Forget regrets, past slights, insults and hurt. They keep you going in circles, and you need to think about your future, not your past. Lean to forgive other people and yourself.
Live as compassionately as possible. Compassion is a quality that allows us to feel for, and understand the lives and circumstances of others. It will not only make you a better person, but will also give you a clear view of the world and right action.
KEEP YOURSELF BUSY
Nothing is more dangerous to human condition than boredom. Learn how to play an instrument, read, study, write a novel, have a hobby, collect things, help your community. Find something and become obsessive about it.
DON’T LIVE FOR THE WEEKENDS
If you start counting the days left for the weekend on monday, then you need to rethink a few things. Live everyday, not only on weekends. Work is supposed to be rewarding and fun.
DON’T BE IN A HURRY
Time is short but that doesn't mean that you should do things in a hurry. Enjoy the processes. The urgency you feel now for doing things is nothing but an illusion.
Make the habit of saving a portion of your paycheck and investing a portion of your pay. If you have a windfall, don't fall in the trap of expending it all, invest it.
SPEND TIME IN NATURE
Get a full dose of vitamin D. Nature helps you heal your energy and improve your humor. Take off your shoes and walk in the grass barefoot, lay in the ground and look at the clouds.
ENJOY THE ARTS
Arts are a form of learning. A painting or a sculpture have so many information on them that you will be amazed. Visit a museum or a gallery. Take your time to see every piece of art.
Music makes your brain release dopamine, a neurotransmitter that makes you feel happy. It also improves your health and reduces your stress. Listen to the music you love at every moment.
Laughter is a very efficient medicine for your body and your mind. It helps you stay balanced, energetic, joyful. Boost your mood and transcend difficulties by laughing at the absurdities of life.
CONNECT WITH OTHERS
Have an array of people you can turn to for company and support as you age is a buffer against loneliness, depression, disability, hardship, and loss. Keep connected with your friends.
DON’T BE ALONE
Try to spend some time a day with someone. Phone, email and social media are not a replacement to face to face contact. Don't be alone all day, is not good for you.
DON’T GO THROUGH THINGS ALONE
You may think that you are the only one going through a rough time but you are not. You don't have to deal with it alone. Find help, there will be people willing to help you and you can help someone in the way.
START A NEW CAREER IF YOU WANT
When you are thirty you think that you are too old to try new things and that's bullsh*t. You are never too old to do anything. If you wanna start a new career, go for it.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN
Do it now before is too late. Visit a dermatologist, follow a plan, eat better, drink water, have a beauty routine every day. Trust me, it is the time to do it.
DRINK MORE WATER
Leave the sodas and have a bottle of water with you all the time. It helps your body in many ways that are impossible to number. Just drink at least 8 glasses of water a day and you'll be fine.
Games are not only for kids. You should play sometimes, even a video game. It will make you laugh, keep you active and exercise your mind. Take that monopoly out of the cupboard.
YOU DON’T NEED A NEW CAR
Ask yourself if you really need to buy a new car. Can you instead save that money for the future, or ride a bike, or just keep the old one that works just as fine?
ACT YOUR AGE
Time doesn't go back. Live your thirties now, because they are not going to come back and you can't live them when you are forty, or fifty. There's a time for everything.
Sugar can be really bad for your health, so you better control the amount of sugar you consume every day. And be careful, because sugar is also in supposedly healthy food.
EXPECT THAT LIFE WILL CHANGE
Life will get better, I can assure that. But you need to focus and think that it will. If you get stuck in the negative side, you will live a negative life. Expect better and you will have better.
And last but not least, you need to love yourself. If you don't, there's no change possible. One changes when one loves. This one is the most important advice of all, start loving yourself, and start now.
